Medical Teams Compete at MDA Olympics

Israel hosts an “Olympic competition” for medical teams. MDA (Magen David Adom) is similar to the United States’ organization “red Cross.” At their annual MDA Olympic competition, participants form 12 countries travel to Israel and learn important medical emergency skills. The winner of the competition is the country team that demonstrates the most professional and proper response to these staged medical emergencies. Dramatic actors, fake blood, and props are all used to help train these doctors and see who has the best knowledge of emergency medicine.

Sky Man Spends Day with Haiti Search Team

In this video, learn about a miraculous search and rescue mission in which Israeli soldiers manage to save a man who was pinned under a building in Port-au-Prince Haiti after the 2010 earthquake. The man was trapped there for four days without food or water and after eight hours of work, the Israelis manage to get him out of the collapsed building and transport him to a field hospital they’ve set up in the city. At that hospital, Israeli doctors just saved a mother and her newborn son. The mother named him after the country that saved his life.

Members of a group called “Dream Doctors” accompany the organization “Israeli Flying Aid” to Haiti to assist in the aftermath of the 2010 devastating earthquake. Dream Doctors are specially trained medical clowns that are trained nurses who also bring joy and laughter to child patients and their families. Watch this video to see how these medical clowns brought song, laughter, and joy to those suffering in Haiti.
